Estate home designed c. 1930 in the Georgian Revival style by and for James Edwin Ruthven Carpenter (aka J.E.R. Carpenter), Jr. {architect}. Carpenter was an independent architect who was one of the leading architects of high-rise buildings in New York City in the early 1900's like One Grand Central Place. An auction was held in 1946 by Parke-Bernet Galleries for the house's contents.

The estate was subsequently owned by Adolph Lavilla. It was used briefly in the 1960's by Gamal Abdel Nasser, Prime Minister of Egypt, who resided at the estate while attending UN General Assembly sessions when they were held in nearby Lake Success. Mansion with 9 bedrooms, 8 baths, guest quarters over separate 4 car garage. Estate subdivided over the decades, down to current 2.5 acres.
