An Art Deco, 205,000 sq. ft., skyscraper designed by the architectural firm of Donaldson and Meier and built in 1929 at the corner of Griswold Street and State Street (1150 Griswold St.), near Capitol Park. It has 37 floors with three additional floors below street level. The building rises from a reddish granite base and incorporates brick, marble (on the first three floors from the street), and limestone as its surface materials. As with many of the other Detroit buildings of the era it contains architectural sculpture by Corrado Parducci.
