Glamis has been a place people have been visiting since 1940. It has been extremely popular since the 80's. A popular attraction is to go buggy riding on the tall dunes. It has been a popular attraction for film makers , many famous movies have been recorded here including Star Wars, and The Scorpion King. Also some tragedies have occurred including the burning of houses and buggies. A few training exercises for military have also taken place in the desert.

The monument is used for all American fun. Many tourists come here on a national level to buggie. It represents patriotism and the American Way. It represents how free Americans are and what fun they can have. It represents how a tremendous amount of people get together to share a similar hobby and have fun. American culture is vast here as you can see many different types of cultural families enjoying themselves.

The Glamis Dunes may be controversial because environmentalists believe that buggie riding is unnecessarily dangerous and causes pollution. They believe that too much fossil fuel contributes to Climate Change. On the other hand, people claim they want to enjoy life as much as the next person. They claim they are appreciating nature and having fun in it without causing too much harm. Many people do not litter anyway, this is also partly due to environmentalists efforts.
