Now mostly a road (and in short sections abandoned), this is the original California Development Company levee along the western side of the Colorado River. The levee was originally topped w/ a railroad, which railway assisted the Southern Pacific company in their efforts to bring in nearly continuous railcars of rock to fill the breach of the Lower Mexican Intake and stop the Colorado River's accidental diversion into the Salton Sink.
