Now a road, this is an old Southern Pacific Railroad Bed. This spur track, originally 6 miles long, was constructed from El Rio to the Lower Mexican Intake in August of 1906, for the purpose of assisting in closing the diversion of the Colorado River into the Alamo Canal.
