St. Paul Island Wind Farm, a wind-diesel power system, is located in Alaska on St. Paul Island in the Bering Sea. just west of the island's airport. Originally commissioned in 1999 with a single turbine, it was expanded in 2007 to contain 3 Vestas V27/225 wind turbines with a combined nominal capacity of 0.675 MW. The project now includes the three turbines, two 150 kW Volvo diesel engine generators, a synchronous condenser, a 27,000 liter insulated hot water tank, and approximately 1,000 feet of hot water piping.
