Gwaneumdo

Gwaneumdo is the third largest island surrounding Ulleungdo. In 2002 an inter-island pedestrian bridge was completed connecting Gwaneumdo and Ulleungdo. The suspension bridge is 140m/459ft long, 37m/121ft high, and 3m/10 wide.

Gwaneumdo is and eco-park protected area that is home to 41 rare plants of which 8 are considered endangered. Various plants like camellia trees, pampas grass, bujigaengyi, mugwort and etc. can be found on the island.

Gwaneumdo is 106m/348ft at the highest point with total land area of 71,405m²/17.9acres.

There are two 14m high caves, Gwaneumssanggul (twin caves), at the east end of the island. Legend says pirates used to hide their ships in these cave and plunder passing boats. It is also said that water falling down from the ceiling of the twin caves makes you live long.
