Battery Reynolds was named on March 30, 1903 in honor of Colonel John F. Reynolds, 5th U.S. Infantry, major general, U.S. Volunteers, who served with distinction during the war with Mexico and who was killed July 1, 1863 at the battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
