Alize Hotel

USA / New Jersey / West New York / West 40th Street, 310
 hotel, skyscraper, 2017 construction

401-foot, 42-story modernist hotel completed in 2017. Designed by Nobutaka Ashihara, the narrow tower is clad in pale-orange-beige brick above an interesting base. The ground floor's glass curtain wall is divided by brick piers into a wide center bay with the main entrance, and two end bays with secondary entrances. A grey metal canopy covers the full width, near the top of the ground floor. The 2nd-3rd floors are clad in grey stone with an organic pattern of a wavy metal lattice-like screen. Above, the tower sets back, but the screen continues, in a smaller pattern, up in front of the next three floors.

The front facade has two bays of double-windows, darker-colored brick quoins at the edges, and darker-colored bands dividing the facade into 6-story segments. The top two floors have much larger, full-height windows across the full facade, and a protruding balcony on the right side. The hotel contains 287 guest rooms.
