John J. Huyck and his wife, Margaret McReynolds, settled in this area in 1875 and became one of the founding families of Lompoc. The collective farms of Huyck and his sons were known as Huyckville. In 1942, the U.S. Army moved the Huyckville buildings to what is North Vandenberg and turned them into a mock village for urban combat training. Building foundations are scattered throughout this site.
The farm sits next to the original alignment of Ocean Road before 246 was built.
