Americana Inn

USA / New Jersey / West New York / West 38th Street, 69

5-story hotel completed sometime around the 1880s as a store-and-loft building. It is clad in red brick, with five bays of paired segmental-arched windows along south facade, and three bays on the west facade. The ground floor is lined with modernized storefront, and the hotel entrance is at the east end on 38th Street, with a dark-red canvas canopy covering it. The windows have stone sills and lintels. There is a black iron fire escape running down one of the bays on the south facade, and another fire escape with almost full-width landings on the avenue side. Both facades are crowned by a black metal roof cornice with console brackets.

The building was converted from commercial to a hotel in 1974, with the lobby on the 2nd floor, above the storefronts. The ground floor is occupied by Lou Lou Buttons, Gong Cha Tea, Pret A Manger restaurant, Diamonte Jewelry, and In & Out Deli/Grocery.
