Notable past owners: Dr. Thomas R. Hodges (1868-1953) - a physician who was also regionally prominent as an amateur archaeologist who studied pre-historic Native American subjects. Dr. Hodges and his wife Charlotte became well-versed enough in their chosen field of interest to publish influential research papers on various local prehistoric cultures. Over the course of his life, Dr. Hodges amassed a collection of some 55,000 archaeological artifacts (some of which he stored in a building on this property), and also had a direct hand in founding both the Arkansas Archaeological Society and the Arkansas Historical Association, both of which still exist today.
