Lignite coal strip mine owned and operated by Luminant, a Texas-based electric utility. Was constructed to serve the Rockdale Alcoa smelter once the smelters's adjacent Sandow Mine was played out. Coal is delivered via a 15 mile long conveyor system. When Alcoa terminated production the power plant and mine were sold to Luminant for general electric power generation.
