Courtyard by Marriott Manhattan/Times Square West (New York City, New York) | hotel

USA / New Jersey / West New York / New York City, New York / West 37th Street, 307

250-foot, 27-story modernist hotel completed in 2012. Designed by Peter Poon, it has a 9-story base, with a set-back tower above it. The base is three bays wide, each with paired windows incorporating a narrow and wider pane and a metal vent at the bottom, and is mostly clad in beige brick. There are also some areas of red-painted concrete panels at various floors, especially the 3rd & 4th. The 2nd floor is mostly clad in black stone panels (except for one red pier), continuing the cladding of the ground floor. There are two bays of metal and glass flanking the slightly recessed main entrance at the west side (covered by a suspended metal canopy), and two metal service doors at the right. A carved terra-cotta cartouche accents both upper corners of the ground floor. Silver aluminum ribs at right angles framed the top and east end of several of the window groups on the base, which is capped by a metal coping.

The upper floors of the set-back tower have a recessed, central, windowless shaft of red-painted concrete. It is flanked by two bays of window units, with a swath of beige brick at the outer edges of the facade. The east and west elevations have blank concrete walls. The hotel contains 224 guest rooms.
