 1925_construction, commercial building

5-story mercantile building completed in 1925, when two older 3-story residential building were joined and given a new facade, designed by Rudolf C.P. Boehler. The conversion was done for McCall's magazine, who occupied the new structure. Three bays wide, it is clad in brown brick above two metal-and-glass storefronts and a narrow building entrance. The rather narrow brick piers project forward slightly, and on the 2nd & 3rd floors each bay has a large plate-glass show-window (the east bay at the 2nd floor, and both west bays also have narrower, operable panes in metal frames inserted at the outer edge). The top two floors have 6-over-2 windows in black metal frames, and there is a small cornice below the 5th floor. The facade is topped by a simple roof parapet with stone coping. The ground floor is occupied by Trim Art, and Star Fabrics.
