Notes: This is the only building remaining from the segregated African-American Menifee High School. The other parts of the school campus were destroyed by a tornado in 1960. The building was constructed by the Works Progress Administration, a New Deal program that operated between 1935 and 1943. The program provided work for unemployed people who were struggling to find jobs during the Great Depression.
