Residence designed by Benjamin Wistar Morris (of the firm of LaFarge & Morris) c. 1928 in the French Chateau style for Fremont Carson Peck, Sr {publisher, merchant} with landscaping by Armistead Fitzhugh. Peck served as the publisher of the Brooklyn Daily Times, Brooklyn Times-Union, and Standard Union. He also served as director of F.W. Woolworth & Co. It was subsequently owned by James Abercrombie Burden, III who renamed the estate "Woodside" after his father's of the same name in Muttontown. The original roof tile was fabricated by the Heinz Roofing Company.

In 2008, the firm of Ferguson & Shamamian Architects was hired to restore and renovate the house.
