place with historical importance, rail wye
The track on the south and northeast leg of the wye was the original mainline and continued through Camp Pendleton, through the Inland Empire all the way to Colton, where the track connected to the SP's Sunset Route. Today, the old mainline has been reduced to just a long tail track into the base. The south leg continues to National City, where the Surf Line ends in a balloon track at the Container Ship Terminal. Most of old mainline between here and Corona has been removed. However the track between Corona and Perris remains as a branch which ends just south of the Orange Empire Railroad Museum.
