The Heritage Hotel (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / West New York / New York City, New York / West 25th Street, 18

141-foot, 11-story Beaux-Arts hotel completed in 1902. Designed by Israels & Harder the 175-room Arlington Hotel, it was under the Comfort Inn brand for a while, and rebranded as The Heritage Hotel in 2016. The 2-story base is clad in yellow stone, with rounded quoin-like blocks at the edges. The entrance is in the 2nd from the eastern of the four bays, up a few low steps; to the right is a storefront with an entrance in the westernmost bay. The main entrance is flanked by paired columns, and the other three bays are topped by decorative recessed panels. The 2nd floor has window openings with rounded upper corners; they have stacked, narrow side panes surrounding three vertically-stacked panes in the center; the lowest of the three has been replaced by an air-conditioning units in each bay. Between the bays are carved medallion-like ornament with red brick on the top and bottom. The cornice capping the base serves as a small balcony for the 3rd floor, with red metal railings - it is supported by alternating elaborate console brackets and ornamented pineapple brackets.

The upper floors have alternating rough and smooth stone quoins at the edges, framing a field of red brick. At the 3rd floor, the four bays have projecting bay windows framed in black iron; the angled side panes are much narrower than the flat center panes. Between each bay on this floor are highly-ornamented stone panels. A stone band course runs above the windows, with scrolled brackets above the windows and escutcheons above the piers. Above each window and bracket is a semi-circular stone pediment, elaborately carved and highlighted by a cartouche.

The next two floors have the same style of projecting bay windows in the middle two bays, and flat double-windows at the end bays, which are fronted by a curved, red iron railing. Between each bay is a red brick panel framed by carved stone. The same alternating brackets and escutcheons above the windows and panels repeats at each floor. The remaining floors are the same, but switch the layout of the inner and outer bays every two floors. A frieze with carved swags underlies the white roof cornice. The ground floor is occupied by Taste Good Chinese restaurant.
