The building on Plandome Road was originally part of which was occupied by Caravella Brothers Fruit and Vegetables which was a grocer of the time. The expanded the store and two gables were added and the store was given the distinctive old English, tudor look. Alterations were made in 1931 by Fred H. Briggs to the windows. Originally deliveries were given by wheelbarrow but that expanded to a fleet of station wagons.
The Wrights were also prominent in local civic affairs. Ward was a board member for the Manhasset Student Aid Association and was formerly on the board for the Visiting Nurse Service. Jack Wright was a trustee of the Village of Munsey Park, a former board member of the Manhasset United Fund, and a former trustee of the Manhasset Congregational Church. Ward started full time with the store in 1939 and Jack joined the firm about 1945. Both were Air Force veterans.
Formerly housed a location of Wright Hardware. Now a branch of the Wells Fargo Bank and contained a stock broker and the law offices of Ernest M. Strong and Kenneth Molloy on the upper level. The storefront has changed but the structure remains largely the same on the exterior.
