Grafted rare elm, Ulmus glabra 'horozontalis' species, which is original to the estate as specified by Marian Cruger Coffin c. 1928. The unusual drooping shape is due to a pendulous elm being grafted on top of a normal upright understock. It creates a visible difference between the two barks.
