Originally build in 1981 as the new headquarters of Gibraltar Savings (renamed First Gibraltar after merging with Dallas' First Texas Savings, then purchased by Bank of America bringing BofA into the Houston region). A twin building just south of this one was planned (a site project model was displayed in lobby at one time) but was abandon during the mid-1980s economic turndown. In the 90's, Compaq was a tenant as their name/logo was on the top of the building.
