 residential neighbourhood  Add category

This is where the famous Storyville red light district of old New Orleans was located. Storyville existed from the 1890s to the 1930s until it was evacuated and demolished by order of the city.

In the 1940s, under the passage of the Wagner Bill, the Iberville housing projects have been at this location.

In 2008, the City of New Orleans began demolishing housing projects and replacing them with mixed income developments, leaving the Iberville Projects as the last of its kind in the city.

Comments

  • Now it's just a place where people go to be shot.
  • Man. This isn't the place for tourist to take photos. If you flash them they will shoot.
  • The city and HANO are applying for a grant to demolish the Iberville and redevelop the area as mixed income and retail.
