Flood control lake which is owned and operated by the Wilkinson Ranch, is usually dry, but it has a capacity of 28,000 acre-feet. It has a twenty-two-foot-high earthfill dam that reaches a spillway elevation of 2,448 feet above mean sea level. Engineering of the project was conducted by Freese and Nichols, Incorporated, and construction was by Grimmet Brothers-Synder. The lake is regulated by the Texas Water Commission, and the water is used primarily for municipal and domestic purposes.
