Lorton is a census-designated place in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. As of the 2010 Census, 18,610 lived in the Lorton CDP and 32,059 lived in the Lorton postal area. Lorton was the site of the Lorton Reformatory, a prison that operated from 1916 to 2001. Today, it is the headquarters of Five Guys. In 2010, the western portion of the Lorton CDP was split off to form Laurel Hill CDP.
