bay, inlet, NRHP - National Register of Historic Places
9-mile-long inlet north of Sitkalidak Strait. The bay also contains the Three Saints Site, an archaeological site that was the location of the first Russian settlement in Alaska. Founded in 1784, the settlement was badly damaged by a tsunami just four years later, and was moved, over the course of several years, to what is now Kodiak. Today the original site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a National Historic Landmark. Its exact location is protected.
