Six story red brick industrial building constructed in 1883 by paint manufacturers and industrialists John and William C. Boydell.
In 1900 the Dodge brothers, Horace and John, established a machine shop on the ground floor. After receiving a large order from Oldsmobile for transmissions, the Dodge Motor Works relocated to a new factory on Monroe Street.
In 1900, David Buick leased space on the second floor for the Buick Auto Vim & Power Company, his first endeavor in the automobile business.
