    Safapora is neighboring village to my village of domicile viz. Asham----- at a distance of only 4 kms. Ii love this village becoz I have been a student of High School Safapora. The school situated on the bank of famous Manasbal lake. I passed my matric from this high school in the year 1966. Some of our best teachers of the school were Mr. Kaniya Lal Math Teacher from Srinagar, S. N. Razdan (English. Teacher) also from Sriinagar, Abdul Ahad Wani( English Teacher) from Safapora, Mohammad Akbar Lone (Urdu Teacher) from Naid- Khai who is now MLA Sonawari and Honble Speaker,Legislative Assembly.

    Safapora has remained very active in contributing its role in Kashmir politics from ancient past till date. People are politically, as well as,religiously, conscious and motivated. People on the whole are upright, hospitable and noble souled. The village, like other villages in the valley and particularly in the belt, have suffered a lot during recent turmoil in kashmir.

    Safapor , previously a constituent and prominant village of Sonawari tehsil is now part of Lar tehsil, district Ganderbal. However, it still continues to be part of Sonawari constituency. The village is located on the foot hills of Koh-i-marran mountain and on the bank of Manasbal lake. A very beautiful village surrounded by villages like, Chewa, Asham,Gratabal and Jhrokabal.

    I am from Safapora and i want to tell you some thing about my village.There is a famous lake ie Manasbal lake:it is the deepest lake in india,it's length is 4km and brth 1.25km.It's water is drinkable.There r also two parks on two sides of Manasbal:1-mansbal park ,2-jarokabagh. Thanks

    SometimesI feel nostaligic about Safapora when I think about and try to recollect the good olden days of my boyhood when I was a student of this School and passed my Matriculation from this School. Those were good olden days. I was a shy boy and didnot take physical activities in the School. However, all my teachers would love me as I was good in studies. I loved Mansbal lake very much and would always dream to construct a small hut here on its bank to live later in old days. But this was only a dream!

    God has gifted this part of North Kashmir with a beautiful gift called Manasbal lake. The lake lies in the viscinity of Safapora village and on its north lies Gratabal and Jarukhabal,Kondabal village to its south-east and Asham karewa on west. Baladar mountain lies on its east and Ahtung hillock lies on its south. It is a fresh water lake ,fed on 1200 springs, as it is said,and on natural percipitation like rainwater and snow. The lake has a net surface area of 2.81 sq. Kms. only, having a maximum length of 5 kms and widh of 1 sq. Km. The max.depth is 43 feet. Its total shore length is about 10 kms. It is a sight seeing tourism spot and recreation place. Mansbal. Development Authority has, of late, started developing and conserving the lake.

    Mr Bashir Parry first I appreciate your comments and knowledge you have provided here but for you better infoemation you have forgotten to mention the name of Pahlipora, a very important village of safapora localty. Hope this piece of information would for sure add your knowledge . Although youseem to be a person from safapora itself. Kindly be very much apdated in future.
