Wular Lake (also spelt Wullar) is a large fresh water lake in Bandipore district in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The lake basin was formed as a result of tectonic activity and is fed by the Jhelum River. The lake's size varies from 12 to 100 square miles (30 to 260 square kilometers), depending on the season.
The outline shows the clear water lake area and marshy land. The marshy land is the result of government negligence and greed of people. Wular is dying like Dal Lake of Srinagar. People are filling it and using it for their own purposes. Time in not far when Wular lake will be a complete marshy land like Anchar lake of Soura Srinagar.
