This now residential home lies on the site of the former Chevy Chase Towers, a condominium building which was destroyed by fire in the mid 1900's. The original castle-like draw bridge entrance still remains, however.

  • Most people call this "the Castle"
  • From the 1950s through the 1970s the locals called the "the Gatehouse" informally, or "Rossdhu Gatehouse" more formally. Rossdhu Gatehouse has a porticulus under which a driveway formerly passed to head up the hill to Rossdhu Castle. The castle was supposedly reassembled from stones of a disassembled Scottish castle of the same name. The castle burned in the late 1950s. The Gatehouse was used as a condominium building in the 1960s. The castle was torn down around 1959 and the cul-de-sac Rossdhu Court was built with million-dollar houses in the 1960s on the property. The pond stretching west from the Gatehouse was used by neighbors for winter ice skating after the castle burned down. Winter ice is no longer thick enough for ice skating here.
