House of Sufism Mosque

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / West 11th Street, 306
 temple, apartment building

3-story religious building completed in 1845. It is clad in blue-painted brick. An arched entryway, with an oval window above, leads to a one-story extension at the rear of the lot. The ground level converted to a garage in an early 1900s alteration that also replaced the stoop by a window. The former garage door has been bricked in. A bulbous sheetmetal roof cornice is a replacement of the original.

The building is now one of the Sufi meeting house that Dr. Javad Nurbakhsh has established worldwide; a place where members of the Sufi brotherhood, a sect of the Muslim faith, can meet and gather.
