Holiday Inn Express NYC Madison Square Garden (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / West New York / New York City, New York / West 29th Street, 232

145-foot, 13-story modernist hotel completed in 2006. Designed by Gene Kaufman, it is clad in dark-beige brick above a ground floor of dark-grey granite, set far back from the street. The courtyard area in front is enclosed by a low wall of black stone planters and hedges with a break in the middle where the arched glass-and-metal canopy extends out to. The centered main entrance has sliding glass doors, and to either side the ground floor has large plate-glass windows.

The upper floors have a center bay of double-windows in black metal framing, with air-conditioning vents below. The brick in the spandrels between floors at this bay is grey in contrast to the rest of the facade. To either side are four bays of narrower double-windows in silver aluminum framing with metal vents below. The grey brick at the center bay expands outwards by one bay on either side beginning at the 10th floor and spanning the full width of the facade by the top floor, the 13th.

The side elevations are plain dark-beige brick, with grey brick across the top floor, and no openings. The hotel contains 228 guest rooms.
