Galveston Island State Park is a 2013-acre seaside park located in Galveston County, Texas on the west end of Galveston Island. It was acquired by te state of Texas in 1969 from private owners under the State Parks Bond Program and was opened in 1975.
The park offers camping, birdwatching, nature studies, hiking, bike riding, fishing, and unsupervised beach swimming.
On September 14, 2008, the park was closed due to damage from Hurricane Ike. In July 2009 the park was re-opened for camping and outdoor recreation.
