Victorian Gothic (architecture), apartment building, 1888_construction

5-story Victorian Gothic residential building completed in 1888. Designed by F.T. Camp, it has three separate entrances, each accessed by a stoop. Above a rusticated brownstone basement, the facade is clad in red brick with stone trim. The first floor has double windows with relieving arches and sculpted human heads in the keystones. Panels with swags exist below these windows. Rough stone blocks decorate the window lintels of the 2nd story, and terra-cotta tiles are inset below the bands course which serves as a sill for the 3rd floor windows.

Victorian polychromy may be seen in the striking contrast between the bright brick and light-colored stone. Three paneled and bracketed roof cornice crown the building, while the central unit is given additional importance by being stepped-up to a higher level. Each of the three sections has its own fire escape, resting on the cornice of the entrance porch. These porches are supported by handsome, giant columns with medieval-type capitals.
