The ancient habitation mound of Umm al Marā has been tentatively identified as the Bronze-Age town of Dub/Tuba. The town was mentioned in Eblaite, Egyptian, and Hittite sources, and a document dated to the reign of the Mittanian king Shuttarna II was discovered among the ruins.
