The whole of Takli Island is protected as the Takli Island Archaeological District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) for its evidence of prehistoric human settlements. Takli Island is also located entirely within the Amalik Bay Archaeological District, which has its own NRHP listing.
