Spring Valley Wind Farm is Nevada's first wind farm. It is located a few miles north of US Highways 6 & 50 about 25 miles (40 km) as the crow flies from the Utah border (and about 23 miles southeast of Ely). Commissioned on August 8, 2012, it utilizes 66 Siemens SWT-2.3-101 (2.3 megawatts, 3,100 hp) wind turbines. The nominal/nameplate generating capacity of the plant is 151.8 megawatts (203,600 hp) and occupies 77 acres (31 ha) within the property which covers 7,673 acres (3,105 ha). The farm is owned and operated by Pattern Energy.
