Warneke hall is named for Sehon Warneke, a lifelong Brazoria County resident and the former owner of Lake Hardware and Lumber. Warneke led the effort to fund and construct the statue of Austin, and founded the Stephen F. Austin 500 the corporate owner of the statue.
