Kidangoor Temple & Koothambalam

The famous Kidangoor Skanda Temple, situated at Kidangoor in Kottayam District of Kerala, houses a Koothambalam, which is a traditional stage for performing a traditional dance called Koothu. Among similar stages found in other temples in Kerala, this particular stage is considered the best. It is known by the name Kidangoor Koothambalam. Wooden carvings depicting various deities and episodes from the ancient manuscripts called Puranas adorn this stage.
