Kaduthuruthy is an ancient town with direct trade links with major traders because of its water ways directly into the heart of the town. The name Kaduthuruthy is belived to have originated from the ancient name of Kadalthuruthu (probably the Arabian sea would have extended till here). The name has another origin, related to the Hindu mythology of Lord Siva. The belief say that the three aboads of Siva were placed at an equal distance, one at Vaikom, one at Kaduthuruty and the third at Ettumanoor. The Vaikom and Ettumanoor were carried by the Lord Hanuman (or Garuda - I am not sure) at his hands and the other one was held on his mouth. So it was Kadichiruthi. Thus the name transformed to Kaduthuruthy. It has one of the old churches, dated to 500 AD, which is one of the worship centres of Knanayites (belongs to Kottayam Arch Diocese).

I have a farm house at Kapumthala, 4 Kms from Kadathuruthy Police station on Pala route. This land is fertile and main cultivation is rubber. The moovatuphzha canal passes through Kapumthala. An Ayurvedic medical college is coming up at Kapumthala which will further develop this area.
