Previously the wooden Jacob's Staircase only reached the old pre-1950s foreshore - now the new metal Jacob's staircase and bridge allows access between St Mary's Bay and the Wynyard area. Opened 15th december 2012. Forecast to cost $5 million the final cost of this bridge was $7.9 million
