Freemans Bay is the name of a former bay and now inner suburb of Auckland. The bay itself was filled in between 1900 and 1920 resulting in new flat industrial areas to the north but also the public park called Victoria Park. Historically a poor and often disreputable quarter, it is now known for its mix of heritage homes and more recent single-dwelling houses, as well as for its two large parks [Victoria Park 1912 & Western Park 1875].
