2-story brick theater building completed in 1868 as a factory and workshop. Designed by William Shears, it is clad in iron-spot brick. The building was used for metal stamping and flatware manufacturing up until the mid-1900s. In 1968, it was acquired by theater director Richard Schechner for his theater company, The Performance Group. In 1980, The Performance Group became The Wooster Group, with the building at 33 Wooster Street as their main performance venue.
