Author of the statue was the world-famous Bulgarian sculptor professor Lyubomir Dalchev (born on December 27, 1902 in Thessaloniki, died on July 11, 2002 in Sunny Valley, USA).
On May 9, 1977, a solemn rally of Haskovo citizens took place on the occasion of the inauguration of the impressive monument of victory. The event was attended by Mr. Korzanov – First Secretary of the District Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party – Haskovo, Petar Kolev – First Secretary of the City Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party – Haskovo, Stefan Pashov – mayor of Haskovo (at that time Chairman of the Executive Committee of the City People’s Council). The celebration was opened by Petar Kolev, Stefan Pashov had made a speech for the Soviet Army, and G. Kortsanov announced the decision of the Executive Committee of the Haskovo District People’s Council to rename Kenana Park to Park of Victory.
