Originally known as the Park Avenue Hotel, the thirteen story building was designed by Louis Kamper and constructed in 1924. Initially, a 255 room residential hotel, the building was last used, in 2007, by the Salvation Army as a homeless shelter. It was imploded 11 July 2015, to make way for the new Detroit Red Wings arena.
