apartment building, 1900_construction, Renaissance Revival (architecture)
6-story, 3-sectioned Renaissance-revival residential building completed in 1900. Designed by Michael Bernstein, it has three separate entrances, each with a short stoop and framed by green-painted pilasters, and topped by an entablature supported by brackets. Flanking each entrance are segmental-arched windows. The facade is surfaced in white stucco. All the window sills and lintels are painted dark green. On the 2nd floor, the outer bays of each third of the building have windows with eared lintels, while the inner bays of each third have splayed lintels with keystones. All of the 3rd floor windows have splayed lintels with keystones, as do those of the 5th floor. On the 4th floor, all of the windows have triangular pediments, and on the top floor the windows are framed by slightly projecting piers with horizontal banding. Bordering the tops of these windows is a prominent metal roof cornice, painted black, with modillions. A green-painted metal fire escape runs down the facade above each entrance.
