NYU Broome Street Residential College (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / New York City, New York / Broome Street, 400
 university, dormitory

10-story dormitory building completed in 1913 as an 8-story factory, renovated in 1996. Designed by Foster, Gade & Graham, it is clad in limestone. All three of the facades have bays of varying widths. The northern elevation has narrow double-windows at each story, except for the top floor triple-windows. The 2-story base is rusticated and has a small extension on the north end. Individual air conditioning units are mounted to the upper left or right corner of the window groupings. The center two bays of the west and south elevations are crowned by a triangular pediment.

The building later served as the annex to this police station. It housed the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and, for a short period, a branch of the police laboratories. Carved panels near the top of each facade still bear the words "THE ANNEX". It became a dormitory for NYU in 1996 with a 2-level penthouse, and is now home to NYU's Upperclass Residential College for 350 sophomores, juniors, and seniors - a living-learning community implemented in 2007. A large metal cover to the rooftop deck was added in 2014.

The ground floor is occupied by Taasha - a 24-hour grocery/deli, Wampum skate shop, Portman real estate, Senbella boutique, and HooMoos Alsi Indian restaurant.
