Chinatown (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / New York City, New York
 Chinatown, neighbourhood, invisible

The Chinatown neighborhood of downtown Manhattan — including the sub-neighbourhood of 'Two Bridges' so named for occupying the area between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridge ramps — is an ethnic enclave with a large population of Chinese immigrants, similar to other Chinatown districts in American cities.

At the turn of the twentieth Century Chinatown was generally confined to the small area around the three streets of Mott, Pell & Doyers, immediately to the east of the City's newly developed Civic Center around Foley Square. By the 1980s, however, it had surpassed San Francisco's Chinatown to become the largest enclave of Chinese immigrants in the Western hemisphere. Today it extends to the north at least as far as Grand Street, to the east as far as Allen & Pike Streets and south as far as the South Street river bank.

Was a filming location for the movie Ghostbusters.
