11 Howard Hotel

14-story Neo-classical hotel completed in 1908 as an 11-story postal storage facility. Designed by Buchman & Fox, it is clad in buff-colored brick. The 2-story base has rusticated piers, and segmental-arches on the 2nd floor, with seven bays along Lafayette Street and five along Howard. The lower piers at the corner entrance are clad in red polished granite. The base is capped by a corbelled band course. Above, the windows are grouped into pairs, with metal mullion dividing the windows in the center bays of the 4th-7th floors, and with round-arches at the center bays of the 8th floor. Three floors were added during the 1992 renovation into hotel usage, set back from the lower roof line and slightly angled.

It has since been turned into a 207-room boutique hotel by Beyer Blinder Belle in 2016 with an interior designed by Anda Andrei and Space Copenhagen for RFR Realty. It features created ceramic wall sculptures in each room by Katie Yang, two murals painted on silk by Holly Fowler (Biörklund), and a 15-foot ceiling mobile by Alexander Calder, presumably from the Rosen collection.
