office building, interesting place, photographic studio

6-story office building originally completed in 1920. Designed by Larremore V. V. Sweezy as a post office. In the late 1900's, it housed equipment and a call center for telecom giant Verizon. In 2013, Adjmi & Andreoli/Morris Adjmi Architects untertook a renovation project to convert the former Verizon building into a photo studio for London-based Spring Studios. The renovated building features 11 photo studios, 9 green rooms, a signature restaurant, bar, an art gallery, a small movie theater, library, offices, 20,000 square foot of green roof deck, lighting and equipment rental, and event spaces. The renovated facade is painted blue-grey. A large portion of the existing brick façade was removed to create a new 30-foot-tall glass curtain wall letting western light into the photo studios. The rear facade is clad in beige brick with wide, 5-paned windows.
